Forged Steel Y-Strainers

Forged Steel Y-Strainers

Forged Steel Y-Strainers

Forged steel Y-strainers protect valves, pumps, meters and instruments on high-pressure small-bore lines by trapping pipe scale and debris on a removable screen.

We supply forged Y-strainers in carbon, alloy and stainless steel with socket weld, threaded or butt weld ends and stainless steel screens in a choice of mesh.

Frequently asked questions

Why use a forged strainer instead of cast?

Forged strainers suit the higher pressure classes and socket weld connections used in small-bore process piping, where cast strainers are usually not available.

How do I know when the screen needs cleaning?

Fit pressure gauges before and after the strainer. A rising pressure difference shows the screen is clogging.

Which mesh should I use?

Around 20 to 40 mesh for general liquids, finer mesh for steam and instruments. Match the mesh to the smallest clearance of the equipment being protected.
