Cast Steel Butterfly Valves

Cast Steel Butterfly Valves

Cast Steel Butterfly Valves

Cast steel butterfly valves are high-performance quarter-turn valves for oil, gas, steam and process lines, where resilient-seated iron butterfly valves cannot handle the pressure or temperature.

We supply double-offset and triple-offset cast steel butterfly valves with soft or metal seats, in wafer, lug and double-flanged designs, for isolation and control.

Frequently asked questions

What is a triple offset butterfly valve?

Three offsets in the disc and seat geometry mean the metal seal only makes contact at the moment of closing. This gives tight, friction-free metal-to-metal shut-off for high temperatures and pressures.

How is a double offset valve different from a concentric one?

The disc is offset from the stem and pipe centreline, so it lifts away from the seat as it opens. This reduces seat wear and suits higher pressures than a rubber-lined concentric valve.

Can butterfly valves replace gate valves?

In many large lines, yes. High-performance butterfly valves are lighter, shorter and quicker to operate, but check pressure drop and pigging needs first.
