Cast Iron Check / Non-Return Valves

Cast Iron Check / Non-Return Valves

Cast Iron Check / Non-Return Valves

Cast iron check valves, also called non-return valves, let fluid flow in one direction and close automatically when the flow stops or reverses. They protect pumps, prevent backflow and stop pipelines draining down.

We supply swing check, dual plate (wafer) and ball check valves in cast iron and ductile iron for water, wastewater and HVAC systems.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a swing check and a dual plate check valve?

A swing check uses a single hinged disc inside a flanged body. A dual plate check uses two spring-loaded half discs in a slim wafer body, which is lighter, shorter and closes faster, reducing water hammer.

Which check valve is best for sewage?

A ball check valve. It has a clear flow path with no hinge or spring in the fluid, so solids and rags are less likely to jam it.

Can check valves be installed vertically?

Many can in upward flow, but not all. Swing check valves need to be approved for vertical service. Dual plate and ball check valves generally suit vertical upward flow. Tell us the orientation when ordering.
