Cast Iron Gate Valves
Cast iron gate valves are multi-turn isolation valves that raise a wedge fully out of the flow path, so the line runs with almost no pressure drop when open. They are the economical, proven choice for isolating water, sewage and low-pressure utility lines.
A. Karimjee & Sons supplies rising-stem and non-rising-stem cast iron and ductile iron gate valves with flanged ends, available from Karachi for projects across Pakistan.

Frequently asked questions
Should I choose a rising stem or non-rising stem gate valve?
A rising stem (OS&Y) valve shows at a glance whether it is open or closed and keeps the stem thread out of the fluid. A non-rising stem valve needs less headroom, so it suits buried or tight installations.
What is the difference between cast iron and ductile iron?
Ductile iron has nodular graphite that makes it much tougher and less brittle than grey cast iron, so it handles pressure surges and pipe loads better. Grey cast iron is economical for low-pressure water service.
Can a gate valve be used to regulate flow?
No. Gate valves should be fully open or fully closed. Running them partly open causes vibration and erodes the wedge and seats. Use a globe or butterfly valve for regulation.
What is a resilient seated gate valve?
The wedge is coated in rubber (usually EPDM) that seals against a smooth bore with no seat pocket, giving drop-tight shut-off and no sediment trap. It is the common choice for potable water.
